In response to your questions
DEAR CLIENTS
We understand that you may be concerned about how we sort the donations we receive and our selection criteria. We want to reassure you by clearly explaining our process.
First, we carefully examine each donation we receive to determine if it can be reused. Our goal is to maximize the use of donations. We assess whether the items are functional or can be repaired. If an item requires minor repairs to be usable, we may pass it on to our team of skilled volunteers who will attempt to restore it.
Regarding sanitation, we take the safety of our volunteers and clients very seriously. We conduct a visual inspection of clothing to ensure they are free from stains, bedbugs, or mold. However, please note that we do not wash the clothes we receive. This is due to safety and efficiency reasons, as we do not have the resources to wash every item. We are also committed to waste reduction. Clean clothing that is not put on sale on our floor is recycled to minimize our environmental impact. Additionally, all unusable metals are appropriately recycled.
We do our best to sort donations and integrate them into our inventory as quickly as possible. However, it may happen that some donations are damaged by rain if they were left in cardboard boxes outside overnight. Furthermore, if bags have been opened by people rummaging through donations during the night, this can also lead to damage. Unfortunately, in these cases, damaged items must be discarded.
We understand that every donation is valuable, and we do our best to maximize their use. We are continually working to improve our processes and ensure that donations are used responsibly.
We hope that these explanations have reassured you about our donation sorting and selection criteria. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know or volunteer yourself and see firsthand the outstanding work they do every day.
We thank you for your incredible generosity, which continues to impress us. Let's keep recycling! What no longer serves you may bring joy to someone else!

A thrift store is good for the environment and your budget. Shopping at a thrift store can offer numerous personal, financial, and environmental benefits.
Here are some of the most important advantages:
On a personal financial level:
-
Save money: Items in thrift stores are often sold at a lower price than new ones, allowing you to save money. This can be especially beneficial for those on a limited budget.
-
Find unique items: Thrift stores often offer unique items that are no longer available in regular stores, allowing shoppers to stand out and create a unique style.
-
Buy quality items: Second-hand items in thrift stores are often of good quality, as they have already been worn and tested. Shoppers can get quality items at an affordable price.
On an environmental level:
-
Reduce waste: By purchasing second-hand items, shoppers avoid contributing to waste production, helping to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry.
-
Save resources: Producing new fashion items requires resources like water, energy, and raw materials. By buying second-hand items, shoppers help conserve these resources.
-
Reduce greenhouse gas emissions: The production and transportation of new fashion items generate greenhouse gas emissions. By buying second-hand items at local thrift stores, shoppers can reduce their carbon footprint.
In short, shopping at one of our two thrift stores can be beneficial both for buyers financially and for the environment. It also helps support the wonderful community of St-Luc Parish.

The recycling containers are open and accessible behind Saint-Maurice Church in Bois-des-Filion and at Sainte-Françoise-Cabrini Church in Rosemère.
Our collections help extend the life cycle of clothing, shoes, books, small appliances, and more by giving them a second use. Instead of cluttering landfills, we choose the path of recycling and reuse.
The use of chemicals, transportation, and water consumption make the fashion industry the second most polluting industry in the world, right behind the oil industry. It alone produces 20% of the world's wastewater and 10% of carbon emissions.
So, instead of throwing items away or letting them accumulate in our closets, a more virtuous third option is possible:
Collected, sorted, and then repurposed, clothing and other items can be worn by others or simply recycled.
Among its many benefits, recycling textiles and other items allows us to:
-
Help people in need
-
Avoid the extraction and use of raw materials
-
Free up space in your closets
-
Support your parish through resale in our thrift stores, where the profits are then redistributed to numerous organizations
-
Let's recycle! What no longer works for you will surely bring joy to someone else.
DID YOU KNOW?
324 pounds of clothing per family are thrown away each year.
95% of used clothing could be recycled or reused.

Magasiner pour une bonne cause
On May 18th, a garage sale took place in the train station parking lot where we had an information booth, and simultaneously, a sale was held at the Rosemère Thrift Store in support of Entraide Rosemère.
It was an excellent day; the Rosemère Thrift Store presented us with a check for $1,522.00, and we collected $147.05 in donations for a grand total of $1,669.05.
We thank everyone who visited us at the train station and those who made purchases at the Thrift Store.
We sincerely wish to thank the City of Rosemère and St-Luc Parish (for the Rosemère Thrift Store) for their generosity.
